Do Your Friends Keep Or Share Your Secrets?

What would life be without friends. Lonely and boring. We
humans enjoy the company of each other and sense of
belonging. But some people lack the skill of picking out
the right friends. Often the problem is they don't
understand the difference between friends and
acquaintances. Various studies indicate that in our
lifetime we have two or perhaps three true friends. True
friends accept you with all your faults and are there for
you in times of need. The desire for true friendship often
causes to tell our "friends" information that is best kept
to ourselves.

Human nature tells us to always trust a friend and in most
cases you can, but there are a few items you should never
discuss with a friend or at least go into to much detail
about. Relationships are at the top of that list. If you
discuss problems in your relationship with a friend you
should be confident that their mouth works like a lockbox.
Info comes in and doesn't get shared with anyone else.

When discussing a relationship matter with a close friend
it is always important to wait until you are thinking
clearly. All of us have skeletons in our closet when it
comes to our relationships and if you announce them today,
you may regret it tomorrow.

Giving out too much personal information can cause your
friend to feel uncomfortable. While they are there to
support you and will do anything for you, true friends
really don't want to know the nitty gritty details.

Remember people are more concerned about themselves. Good
friends will express genuine sympathy and concern
regardless of what's happening in their life. If your a
good friend too, you will do the same. A good sign that
someone is an acquaintance instead of a friend is they like
hearing the juicy details. They love the attention they
receive when they can be the first to "spill the beans" to
their group of friends. Unless you like being center stage
of a gossip feast, guard your mouth and select your friends
wisely.
